About this course

In this self study course, Gender Diversity and Inclusion Management (GDM) for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is designed to emphasize the role Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play as a critical contributor to economic growth and employment, can be enhanced with the effective inclusion of about 50% of the population (women) in economic activities. It highlights how this is important to their enterprises’ very existence and the overall country’s economy.

The course draws the participants’ attention to a greater appreciation of the value in a gender-diversified workplace, ownership, leadership and customer focus not just for the short run, but significantly, how it can affect it positively in the long run. In this regard, the course addresses Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)' value and potential for future growth.

Finally, it is also important to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in learning how to create awareness on key principles and the relevance of Gender inclusivity to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) ability to access finance that can enhance growth, creation of decent jobs and self-sufficiency.

In this self-study course, we will delve into the profound benefits of fostering gender diversity within your workplace. We'll explore how gender diversity can positively influence ownership, leadership, customer focus, and long-term growth prospects for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The course aims to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with the knowledge and tools they need to realize their full potential in the competitive business landscape.

Who is this course for?
The course is intended for SMEs in all sectors e.g. Agribusiness, Manufacturing, Trade In Services, and particularly in Uganda though it could apply to the same in low-developed countries. Though any staff member of the enterprise can benefit from skills garnered, it would be most useful for the enterprise’s transformation if the decision makers – Shareholders, Directors Executives could also attend, complete this course, and implement immediate changes for Gender Diversity Management improvements.

What will you learn?
  • Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will become ready to access patient capital from local, regional and international funds & projects as most of their calls currently target gender-diverse organizations, with an enhanced social performance which builds a stronger reputation.
  • Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will be able to build customer loyalty through having a gender-diverse workforce. Strong reputation and employer brand turn companies into desirable places to work.
  • Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with gender-diverse talent and culture experience reduced staff turnover (as employees feel accepted and valued), more creativity and productivity as such increased revenues and reduced costs.
  • Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will avoid non-compliance with the National law and as such avoid penalties if any.
How much time do you need to invest?   This course will require at least 10 hours to complete.
