About this course

In this course, participants will learn how to integrate climate change adaptation into the infrastructure lifecycle, using the climate proofing approach. 

Who is this course for?
This course is specifically designed for public and private sector stakeholders involved in infrastructure project development, design and operation, such as planners, engineers, technical and managerial staff. The course also addresses climatologists and climate proofing process facilitators wanting to learn more about the infrastructure context.
 

What will you learn?
In this course you will learn

  • how to identify potential entry points of climate change adaptation within infrastructure planning frameworks and cycles using the climate proofing method. 
  • how to reflect on applying climate proofing of infrastructure investment projects, strategies and plans in your own context. 
  • to become aware of challenges and enabling factors for the effective use of climate services in the context of climate proofing infrastructure investment. 
  • to understand the concept of climate services and engineering aspects of climate risk and vulnerability assessments. 

How much do you need to invest? This course contains four modules of  4 hours each. This means, our course on Climate Proofing of Infrastructure will take you about 9 – 12 learning hours to complete.

Course Developer: This course was developed as part of the global project Enhancing Climate Services for Infrastructure Investments (CSI) that is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in the context of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The course was developed in cooperation with the Climate Risk Institute (CRI). It is based on the Climate Proofing E-Learning developed by CSI in partnership with the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI).
