Enrolment options
The Cool Training online self-paced course by GIZ Proklima provides basic knowledge about refrigeration technology and about the characteristics and advantages of climate-friendly natural refrigerants. At the core of each section is a video with detailed, but easy to understand explanations of the respective topic. Additional materials, such as a technical glossary, quizzes, and extra videos as well as live webinars will help the learner internalise the Cool Training content.
Who is this course for?
The course can be taken by both professional technicians and trainers from the refrigeration and air conditioning sector and representatives of the National Ozone Units. Anyone interested in (green) cooling technology may also join the course, as the basics of refrigeration technology are explained.
What will you learn?
This course introduces refrigeration basics including the interaction between temperature and pressure, determining the evaporating temperature, determining the condensing temperature, choosing the appropriate refrigerant, structure of pressure-enthalpy diagrams, refrigeration cycle in the pressure-enthalpy diagram, factors influencing the cooling load as well as Handling Natural Refrigerants inclduing instructions, technical regulations, refrigerants designation safety classification and labelling, copper tube handling and pipe connections, leak detection methods, propane (R290), ammonia (R717) and carbon dioxide (R744) as refrigerants, application of carbon dioxide (R744) as refrigerant, factors influencing the energy efficiency of RAC systems, electrical safety, environmental implications of the cooling sector & the Green Cooling approach, fit for Green Cooling - Qualification, certification and registration of cooling technicians.
Topic Overview: Refrigeration,Air conditioning, Cooling, Ozone protection
How much time you need to invest: Going through the material provided in both parts of this course will take you around 120-180 minutes, depending on your individual speed and interest. As the course provides expert knowledge, you may plan more time to study and revise the material in depth.
